Ubuntu 20.04 and headphone jack issues

Hi all! Just a quickie! I'm still using this Asus N550 notebook, mainly for KDE Neon (awesome Ubuntu-based distro). I had some issues with headphone jack socket so this is just information for googlers. In case you have issues like this just put following line into your /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf:

options snd-hda-intel model=asus-nx50

Don't forget to restart your system.. all should work fine now, no need to use other tricks like hdajackretask for example.. :-) If you're using other model in alsa-base.conf like "asus-model4" for example than you should update it too, "asus-nx50" works perfectly well with our notebook. See you around!

Let's keep it here!

Hi folks!

I need a brand new notebook. I was considering at first Asus N550JV, however it's being replaced now by Asus N550JK -- it's pretty fresh, no tests, no guides, no reviews available for now.. I gave it a shot - just ordered it yesterday.

When I was looking for information about Asus N550JV it was quite painful that nobody kept all the information in one place -- I'll try to describe and keep all the information related to Linux on N550JK installation/configuration here! Let me know if you want to contribute, I'm also open to your suggestions - I'm not going to test everything here, because it will be my primary computer for everyday use - but hey, give it a try!
